Spotlighting Partnerships

We say it all the time: long term care work isn’t a job, it’s a calling. This month’s Provider articles are focused on quality and caregiving—just like the people who work in long term care. In this issue, we have articles that demonstrate the power of collaboration and the multiple ways our members are leading the way through innovative partnerships.
We are bearing witness to changes and crises across the world, and yet again we are seeing examples of how long term care is stepping up to create positive change. In pilot programs in Iowa and California, various skilled nursing care centers and community organizations are partnering in refugee training programs. This collaboration is offering job opportunities and support to refugees while also creating an avenue for relief from the ongoing workforce labor shortage.
We hear from the team at AHCA/NCAL that is launching Project Firstline, a program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Project Firstline will bring innovative, proven trainings to direct care workers so they can confidently implement the most updated and effective infection prevention and control practices.
Through a Traditional Foods Project, an entire community came together to embrace foods that were used by families for generations. With effort and creativity and a commitment to honoring the local culture, this center was able to get approval on every level—state and national—to safely provide these foods within their center’s meal services.
These stories center around partnerships in quality care, a theme that is particularly timely. The 2022 AHCA/NCAL Quality Summit is coming up May 16-18. The sessions this year showcase the innovative practices of providers across the country.
